Murchison River in Flood
Over the summer months (December through until April) the Murchison River regularly fills and floods. The huge amounts of water come from the Murchison River catchment, located near an inland town called Mekathara. The rain falls during thunderstorms or as cyclones track inland. It takes anywhere from 2-8 weeks for the water to make it's way down the river to Kalbarri.
